"Our Spirit Viewpoint"
Signs of Spirit
Signs of Spirit
In 2005, we became aware that even though spirit is invisible to the eye, it’s characteristics can be observed in ourselves and others.
Signs of Spirit are evidence of the existence of the unseen spirit. They are characteristics that can be observed in ourselves and others. Once known and recognized as coming from spirit, we can choose to activate and cultivate them in ourselves, thus living as spirits in daily life.
We call these characteristics “signs of spirit” because they demonstrate the presence of spirit, just as a heartbeat and breathing our “signs of life” for the body.
We have been writing first-person short stories about our experiences observiing signs of spirit in ourselves and others and also about how we intentionally use these spirit abiities in our daily lives.
Our intent in sharing these stories is to make it more kown in the world that spirit exists and exists in each and every human being in addition to all of Life. Perhaps our stories will inspire you to find these signs of spirit in yourself and others.
The Source of Spirituality
in Star Wars
by Debra Redalia
My body was only 22 years old when the first Star Wars movie first burst into the world in 1977. And I think I’ve seen every Star Wars since.
Though my father was a big fan of science fiction, I wasn’t particularly interested in science fiction myself, so I never would have chosen to go to Star Wars on my own, But a friend wanted to see it so I went and was very happy I did.
For me, the moment that really got me emotionally was the big ending where Luke Skywalker turns off his mechanical controls and relies on The Force to guide him on his mission to disable the power station on the Death Star [This clip is 14:44 minutes. If you don't want to watch 11 minutes of battle, fast forward to 11:45 minutes to see the moment where Luke Skywalker chooses The Force instead of his mechanical instruments.] As a spirit, I knew one could find one's way by knowing and that spirit can gather and process information faster than any mind or machine, but to see it on screen, out in public, moved me deeply. At that time I was wrestling with knowing I was a spirit, but not having the courage to be honest and open about it. And here it was...spirit abilities right on the movie screen.
Of course, Star Wars couldn’t come right out and say we’re all spiritual beings. No. It’s a fantasy. But there is enough truth to it, that it can awaken the latent knowing within some of us that The Force actually exists and we all inherently have the potential to be Jedis.
And so Star Wars has been with me my entire adult life, the characters grow in their abilities as I grew in mine.
Last week we went to see the most recent Star Wars movie, and it just moved me to tears. For me, I just recognized the abilities we know as signs-of-spirit all throughout the film. And because I don't want to give away the best part for those of you who haven't seen the film, I'll just say there is a scene where I knew that Larry and I are not alone in communicating about spirit—there is a MUCH bigger movement in this direction than we all can see at the moment. But the movement is there. I am certain about this.
But how did these spiritual truths end up in Star Wars?
I mentioned the film to one of my consuting clients this week and the next day an email arrived in my inbox with a link to a long article about how spirituality was integrated into the Star Wars story.
Apparently, the original script was not spiritual at all—the story was told from the viewpoint of two robots. It was George Lucas’ wife Marcia who brought spirit to the story by adding archetypes and characters derived from principles of Rudolf Steiner’s anthroposophy and Waldorf education.
And Star Wars has become the longest-running movie saga, holding the attention of audiences decade after decade, with no end in sight.
To me, the message is quite clear. Yes, on one level it’s simply a battle of good and evil, but on another, it clearly says “it is spirit that wins over evil and ultimately it’s our own spiritual powers and our ability to stand up for what is good and right is more powerful than evil.” I believe these films are so popular because of their spiritual message, whether movie-goers are aware of the truth in the fantasy or not.
This is a viewpoint that I know to be true from experience. The Spirit of Life is more powerful than anything else in the universe and will prevail. All we need to do is use it.

DEBRA REDALIA, Co-Founder of Spirits Bright, became aware she was a spiritual being when her body was six years old, but didn't learn much about what that meant until she met soulmate Larry Redalia twenty-six years later. Together they have helped each other discover the characteristics of spirit and put them into practice in daily life. Since 2005, Debra and Larry have been writing Signs of Spirit stories—first person accounts of their true life adventures as spiritual belings. The are co-founders of Spirits Bright and The Signs of Spirit Project.
